Studies on Early childhood development have recently become an important topic of discussion. It is no mystery that early childhood years, and the environment a child is introduced to, leaves lasting impact on how they evolve and grow. Nations are only now beginning to realize that to secure the promise and potential inherent in each child is to safeguard the prosperity of society itself. If a safe, healthy and welcoming society incubates these young minds then they can become well-rounded individuals of tomorrow.
It is imperative that this increased momentum is further mobilized and capitalized, and its emerging science and related fields of study are supported and sustained, so as to sensitize change-makers and cultivate greater commitment and action at all levels: government, civil society, the donor community, multilateral organizations, and the human services professions.
Henceforth, the Aga Khan University’s institute for Human Development, in associated with Centre of Excellence in Women and Child Health is presenting an international conference on the subject, on 23rd October 2019, at Aga Khan University Hospital Auditorium.
The program is focused on growing awareness about under-nutrition in infants and young children as a global health problem, and to bring attention to studies conducted different in low and middle-income regions of the world suggesting that adequately implemented nutrition interventions not only reduce mortality and stunting but do actually enhance behavioral and developmental competence. Ultimately, a major goal of the featured strands on early nutrition is to bridge the worlds of science and policy.
This conference will thereby serve as an interdisciplinary medium for engagement and cultivation of ideas, concepts and solutions around issues on which immediate and radical actions are needed to make an impactful difference in children’s lives.
The conference will also offer specialized thematic focus on early maternal and child nutrition. So that mothers, homemakers and all those people who are raising children in homes or at workplaces attain needed knowledge for healthy growth.
A number of panels, constituting prominent and brilliant national and international speakers, will be presenting on the topics of Human Capital Development, UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, Global Health Work Force Development, and, Linking Science, Policy and Practice.
In addition to this, academics from local and international universities will present their academic papers on aforementioned and other relevant topics. With the help of seminars and QandA sessions, and networking breaks, participants will also have the opportunity to interact with the experts in the fields of human development and nutrition, government officials, civil society members, academics as well as other students.
