A great number of researches conclude that making art is strongly a therapeutic practice. It has been a proven solution to reduce stress, contain anxiety and manage panic attacks, and has hence been practiced as an effective method by therapists, psychiatrists and counselors all over the world. The quality (which is already a highly subjective element in this field) of your art does not matter, as long as you are enjoying the process of making it. Anyone who can make a mark on a paper is qualified to attend.

Again, art is one of the strongest forms of expression and communication. Art therapy hence helps you to let it out on a sheet of paper – what you’re thinking, what do you want things to be, what do you feel like making etc. It opens avenues to self-awareness, which leads to a higher level of empathy and emotional intelligence. In other words, it makes you better equipped to understand your own emotions and of the people around you. Taking the idea forward, since art therapy has the ability to re-center your focus, consequently your physical pain, aggression and irritability are checked.
