Meg Stuart’s internationally renowned ‘Violet’ has made its way to our city this Saturday night at the National Academy of Performing Arts (NAPA).
Hosted by NAPA and the Goethe Institut Pakistan, this contemporary dance performance has toured cities of the subcontinent – from Mumbai, India to Colombo, Sri Lanka – before arriving in Karachi.
Meg Stuart is a Brussel based choreographer and owner of production company ‘Damaged Goods’, with over 20 productions from large-scale choreographies to solos. In the last 8 years, ‘Violet’ has performed around 80 times, making it a classic in her repertoire.
‘Violet’ has been described as a free-fall into a vortex: the 5 incredible dancers create a realm of opportunity and energy on stage through the detail of their movement patterns. They are paired with a live electronics and percussion performance from sound artist, producer and musician Brendan Dougherty.
NAPA is a preeminent performing arts organisations regularly presenting theatre and music programming, and remain the only National Arts academy specialising in music and theatre education. Collaborating with the cultural institute of Germany, the Goethe-Institut Pakistan, this contemporary dance show will be an international standard performance. Bring your family and friends for a ‘first come, first serve’, free entrance at NAPA, and witness an exhilarating night that will change your conception of dancing’s possibilities.
