NAPA: The Playlist
March 31st, April 1st & 2nd: 8-10PM
This weekend, the National Academy of Performing Arts (NAPA) will be hosting its last few events for their largely successful International Performing Arts Festival (IPAF).
In collaboration with the Goethe-Institut Pakistan, ‘The Playlist’ is a unique musical production covering some particularly bizarre torture methods in Guantanamo bay. US Senate reports on the Central Intelligence Agency’s torture methods in Guantanamo described a looping playlist of American Pop music, perpetually played at extreme volumes and used to psychologically damage and weaken the prisoners in question.
This strange, ceaseless cycle of torture was said to be the worst that many of the prisoners ever endured. The production is ultimately an investigation into the abuse of music that took place, and a deeper look into our creative capacities to abuse the body and souls of other human beings. If you haven’t yet caught any of NAPA’s IPAF events, you should attend The Playlist at the end of this weekend – tickets are for sale online at https://bit.ly/2U2ymTS.
