After this past weekend’s epic Coke Food and Music Festival Karachi 2019, Clifton’s Beach Park will play venue to yet another great event for Karachiites this coming Saturday. Behbud Association’s annual Spring Fiesta returns to the city with over 100 different stalls in what should be another great day of activities, food, and fun.
According to regular attendees of this yearly event, the main attraction at the Spring Fiesta is the stalls which Behbud themselves run. At these stalls, Behbud sells a variety of crafts created by the very women they support. High in demand are various textile products with high quality rilli embroidery. These hand embroidered rilli products include napkins, tablecloths, and clothes. In addition to their sought after rilli products, they also have a white elephant stall where they sell items that were originally donated to their organization. Their white elephant stall is usually a treasure trove: antiques and unique items can be found by those who arrive early.
In addition to this, the Spring Fiesta has endless food options which cater to every kind of appetite. Behbud also makes an effort to invite local Karachi entrepreneurs, craftspeople and hobbyists to come and sell their arts and items. Keep a lookout for some of Karachi’s most sought after entrepreneurs, including Artism and their collection of innovative paper products, PebbleUp’s unique space enhancers, and My Specials’ collection of delicious achars and jams.
For children too there are almost endless activities. Story-telling, mural painting, magic shows, and trampolining are just some of what your kids can expect.
Although the Behbud Spring Fiesta is largely geared towards families, the diversity of activities and stalls means that there should be a little something for everyone. Expect endless stalls, competitions, prizes, and celebrity appearances. And most importantly, all proceeds go towards supporting Behbud projects which support underprivileged communities, and empower local women.
For the past five decades, Behbud’s mission has been to empower women by providing health, education, and vocational training to those in need. Their work goes beyond this to include community development, disaster relief, and more.
