On site at the phenomenal seaport redevelopment project that is Port Grande, the Al Umeed Rehabilitation Association for Cerebral Palsy (AURA) has organised a fully loaded afternoon to evening event with a vast array of games, food and activities perfect for a family outing. The original 19th century iron bridge of Native Jetty, now a permanently vibrant location of commercial initiatives and social gatherings, is ideal for the event: with an all-encompassing sense of the city’s merging past and present, the promenade that hosts views of historic landmarks as well as fine dining and shopping/ entertainment check points is currently the ideal venue for this years Aura Carnival of 2019.
The non-profit NGO AURA, formed in 1989 by Dr. Ruby Abbasi, has already made a huge difference in the lives of children affected by the life long condition of Cerebral Palsy. Affecting 17 million children worldwide and tens of thousands in Pakistan alone, Cerebral Palsy is a neurologically, developmentally and physically debilitating disease requiring ongoing treatments like physiotherapy and vocational training.
We can all play a vital role in supporting these children through participating in the myriad of fun activities the carnival has on offer. The classic hysteria of Bumper Cars, Haunted Houses, and ‘Fun Rides’, as well as the newer ‘Virtual Reality’ games on display will ensure a fantastic night for all ages amidst the wonderful ambience of Port Grande.
