Inspired by American Playwright Murray Schisgal, this Urdu theatre play captures the transient nature of our reality and the unattainable future prospects we cling on to while losing track of our present. Sajid, who studies law by night with the hopes of obtaining his own successful practice in the future, joins co-worker Erum Qadeer for a ‘temporary’ job at a mail order house. She too has other dreams, hoping to live the fulfilled life that comes with finding intimacy and love. As Sajid’s temporary work assignment drags on from days to years, the cyclical nature of their shared work life emphasises the ongoing futility of their self-professed hopes and dreams.

‘Period. End Of Sentence.’, has already established itself as an Oscar Winning Documentary by advancing one of the most relevant community discussions in Pakistan. The deeply entrenched stigma around menstruation has been a curse of sexism and ignorance, and this documentary follows women in India as they engage in community discussions with other men and women about the topic.
The documentary will be screened this Friday evening at the Pakistan American Cultural Center (PACC) and will be followed up by an informative discussion. HER Pakistan and Documentary Association of Pakistan are collaborating as two platforms in strong opposition to any form of censorship, intolerance and discrimination – they are committed to freedom of expression for all and aim to augment and amplify the voices of the disenfranchised through the medium of film.
