The latest event coming to Karachi’s thriving cultural center, Alliance Francais de Karachi is being hosted by a creative organization called Kruger-Brent. The Kruger-Brent art exhibition which will be held on February 15th is a unique approach where the art on display will not be from any individual or collaborating artists. Instead, Kruger-Brent have created an art competition so that budding artists and up and comers are provided with an opportunity to display their work.
Kruger-Brent has accepted 500 applicants for this tournament out of which 35-50 will be shortlisted to have their work featured in the exhibition. Out of the 35-50, a jury will award prizes to 8 contestants, out of which the top three placeholders will receive cash prizes of up to Rs.100,000. The other five will get their registration fee back as well as an additional cash prize of Rs.3,000. The jury will consist of the well-respected Pakistani creatives, Marjorie Hussain, Abdul Jabbar Gull, Yousuf Bashir Qureshi, and Mehreen Ilahi.
Given that the competition is open to contestants from all around Pakistan, this exhibition is a unique chance to see works of art from creatives with a diversity of different backgrounds, teachings, and cultures. It’s also an opportunity to discover talented new artists and to simply spend an evening just appreciating some beautiful pieces.
