Listen And Get Inspired By Changemakers, at TedxHabibUniversity!
For the majority of us, “Ted Talks” are a familiar concept. Be it students, academics, or workers in the corporate sector, non-governmental agencies or the government itself, most individuals have most likely experienced ted talks in one form or the other. If they haven’t been to a live event, they’ve come across it’s video formats available over the internet. A Ted Talk event essentially hosts a series of talks delivered by influential personalities from all walks of life. It ensures perpetual knowledge production delivered through their own lenses, experiences and accomplishments.
As Ted Talks emerged and became wildly popular, independent events based on the same format started springing up throughout the world, mostly hosted by colleges and universities, under the name “TEDx Independent Organized Programs”. To keep the quality at par with the original talk program, these events have to be licensed and endorsed by the parent organization.
Tedx In Karachi
It is worth rejoicing over that Karachi, among other cities in Pakistan, is also holding arrangements of such talks on a wide and creative range of imperative topics that are relevant in a local context. TEDxHabibUniversity is one such manifestation. With its second installment and this year following a trail of “what if?” discussions, Habib University has a lot in store for us.
Habib’s Ted Talk is a platform for ten notable speakers, including stand-up comedian and internet personality Shehzad Ghias Sheikh and Transpersons rights activist Bindya Rana. The speakers range from academics, industry experts, artists, innovators and inspired thinkers from different walks of life. Like Ted Talks around the world, the event helps cultivate a community of curious minds ready to engage with ideas.

“What if?”
Now lets talk about the overarching theme of this installment: “Imagine”. The late Carl Sagan, renowned American astronomer and author, once said, “Imagination will often carry us to worlds that never were. But without it, we go nowhere.” TedxHabibUniversity will make you question the reality around us and develop a renewed desire to absorb knowledge and find patterns and synergy in a variety of topics.
