Around 15 years ago, Karachi’s tech music scenes were frequent and exciting – talented musicians and multi-faceted artists in the early 2000’s had made a name for themselves through growing communities and amazing performances. The subsequent change in Karachi’s security situation over the next decade made these events increasingly rare, and the entire scene lost traction.
Today, the downward spiral of tech music is in the past. Karachi is riding a wave of fresh initiatives and has hosted a number of awesome events in recent memory. The upcoming Estrella Festival, organised by Deja Vu Events, represents another oasis of music – a ‘connoisseur music festival’ featuring legends and pioneers of Karachi’s original EDM scene, DJ Faisal Baig and DJ Bilal Brohi.
DJ Bilal Brohi
DJ Bilal Brohi is a veteran on the scene. A talented musician in his own right and an expert in production, he’s been mixing beats since the mid-2000’s. DJ Faisal Baig has similarly been on it for the better part of 2 decades, dropping house and techno sets in all kinds of venues. He hasn’t taken any shortcuts on his journey either – a comprehensive technical familiarity with music production is his base as a DJ. Together at Estrella, both DJ’s will set the stage alight with two more classic performances behind the decks.
DJ Faisal Baig
DJ Zain Mohsin
Zain Mohsin, who goes by the stage name DJ Senpai, is another talented, emerging Dj and Producer with an unconventional style on the decks. His deep house and disco sets always have dance floors popping – he implements sick vocals and samples to engage and connect his audiences and keep them moving.
Hamza Awan
Alongside three multi-faceted and versatile DJ’s, Pakistan’s leading Laser Artist Hamza Awan will be electrifying the entire venue with an insane laser show. With a specialisation in Holographic Tunnels, experience with international events and collaborations with Coke Fest, Pepsi Battle of the Bands and Nescafe Basement, this laser artist will turn the venue into a whole new world. Bright laser colours and synchronised tunnel effects combined with the sets will make Estrella Music Festival one of the best techno events Karachi’s seen yet!
