The colour pink is generally (stereotypically) associated with somewhat sexist assumptions of what it means to be ’girly’. ‘Fragile’, or ‘frivolous’ comes to mind… Even just ‘mild’.
Today our colour’s up to some serious rebranding. Bold, confident and empowered is the new pink – and the Pink Rider’s are making sure that change is one that entrenches itself in a city and country where woman are, for the most part, seen or kept as dependent on their male counterparts.
This collective of female bikers are redefining gender perceptions and actively changing behaviours through their own initiative. The modern era calls for an all-encompassing self-reliance and autonomy, and the Pink Riders movement has mobilised woman confident enough to claim their own public space.

Payaam-e-Khurram, an individual with an outstanding vision and the founder of Pink Riders, has facilitated a movement that envisions independent, contributing citizens of both genders. In the process, they are breaking long held gender stereotypes and promoting a more progressive city.
[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Pink Riders organizes multiple motorbike driving and training sessions monthly, and the ever increasing enrolments means more hope in an empowered, independent and safe environment for women in Pakistan. There are multiple training sessions every month!“Women ride scooters and motorcycles all over the world so why should there be an issue here? That’s why, we organised this rally of 100 women motorcycle riders… at Nagan Chowrangi, areas such as Sohrab Goth, KDA Chowrangi, Karimabad, Sohrab Goth, NIPA Chowrangi, Hassan Square, Karsaz, etc, and not just posh areas such as Clifton or Defence. It is to show everyone living in these areas that the women here can and the women here are not going to rely on anyone but themselves to reach their respective destinations.” – Payaam-e-Khurram
